Space Cast 009 ~ A meticulous vinyl only mix put together by dj and producer Danimoto aka Daniel George, and a luscious visual response by painter, Liam Haley.

It’s been a while between releases but this one is well worth the wait. Truly honoured to present this special pairing of two artists who are both exceptionally skilled in the exploration of abstraction in their respective fields.
Daniel George is an artist who is always investigating and diving deeper, whether it’s into his own work or the work of others. Daniel has a long running show on Ibiza based, OpenLab Radio called InScape, dedicated to ‘Exploring the boundaries of sound and music’ this series examines artists practices, their history, experiences and inspiration. Daniel has hosted artists such as Lawrence English, RBI, Alex Albrecht, Aarti Jadu and Maria Moles plus many more.
Daniel uses production as a release or an escape - ‘my sounds around House, Techno & Ambient serve as some sort of meditation. If I go long stretches without producing or picking up an instrument, I seem to lose my way’.
When I asked Daniel how he unwinds and grounds himself he gave me the perfect answer - ‘dedicating your time to sitting and listening to music properly. Removing all distractions, no phone, no reading and taking an album in its entirety, that’s a perfect unwind’.

‘When I sat down to put this together, I really wanted to dive into that word, Space. In the context of ambient music, this is meditative or emotional music that doesn’t possess explicit form. Structure has a lot to do with that or more so anti-structure - not being able to clearly define where one part begins and another one ends. Brian Eno’s Music For Airports is the iconic example of that. The listener cannot discern pre-mediated changes in the music, they are instead felt. On a more aesthetic level, the music I put in here is open, something like a 3D world that you can walk around in and there doesn’t seem to be boundaries. Like when Homer walks around in 3D in The Simpsons. I compiled my selection based on these ideas with a little bit of flexibility and let the music speak’.

‘Cosmic Garden’ by Liam Haley 2022
Liam Haley is a multi-disciplinary artist working predominantly through the artistic mediums of printmaking, painting and sculpture. Growing up in nature, Liam's work is inspired by his surroundings as well as ideas of masculinity and abstraction. His work investigates an intuitive response to the processes of art making and how artwork can transform and command physical space.
'Cosmic Garden' is the work created in response to Danimoto's mix. 'Through expressive mark making, applied in colour, with movement and texture, the gestural application of oil paint found harmony and mirrored my mood in the making process.’
‘The artwork progressed on each visit, flat washes of colour evolved to circular shapes with the appearance of an oyster, to finally building up strokes of colour that overlap and entwine together.’
